How to Make a Yarn Wrapped Cross:
First, print our your cross template. Cut out the template.
Place the template on top of your cardboard and trace around the cross shape. Cut out the cardboard shape of a cross that you just traced.
Next, tape the beginning of your yarn to the back of your cross.
Now, wrap the cross with the yarn.
You might like to start on the right side and then move to the left. Or go top to bottom. Or you can go all different directions. There’s no wrong way!
Just be sure that the yarn is tight and secure on the cross. If you get too close to the edges, it can slide off.
Once you are finished adding yarn, use glue to secure the last bit. Or, if you don’t have time to let it dry, you can secure the end piece with tape onto the back.
And….that’s it! An easy preschool cross craft idea!
You can see in this picture, the difference between going all different directions, and being more precise. Both look amazing in their own way!
Going all directions will be easier for preschoolers, but older kids might enjoy the precise technique.
What a fun way for kids to practice fine motor skills!
