Looking for a fun project for the winter season? With this cut out and build a snowman printable little ones can make the perfect preschool snowman craft!
With winter just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to talk to little ones about snow and snowmen! Even if you don’t have snow where you live, it’s a great opportunity to teach kids about wintertime around the world.
This paper snowman craft is perfect for preschoolers because it is super easy to cut out. Little ones won’t have to worry about accidentally cutting off the snowman’s scarf or losing a tiny button or carrot nose!
I created this easy build a snowman as a cutting skills project for preschoolers. Each piece is outlined and simplified. It’s the perfect activity to practice fine motor skills with a pair of scissors.
Kids of all ages will enjoy this fun craft. Older kids might like to cut closer to the objects and of course there’s an easy to cut line around all of the other objects making it perfect for preschool and kindergarten students.
Alright! Let’s get started!

Build a Snowman Activity
First, print out your cute snowman free printable template. You can find instructions on how to get the pdf file at the end of this post.
Provide your child with scissors. Show them how to cut our the top hat, the snowman body parts, and scarf. There are 5 snowman pieces in all for this fun activity.
Once the snowman parts are cut out, give your children a glue stick and some guidance on how to create the snowman.
I encourage young children to lay the pieces of the snowman out in order before they start gluing. This helps them know what it will look like and how high up on the page they should start to glue.
(Or is it just my kid that starts to glue in the middle of the page and runs out of room!?! LOL)
Once they have their new fun snowman designs made, they can apply a bit of glue to the back of each piece to build their own snowman!
We used a glue stick to minimize mess, but school glue would work as well.
This free printable build a snowman craft is a great choice for little ones. It’s the easy way to help preschoolers practice cutting skills and independently make their own simple snowman craft.
