How to Make an Easy Thanksgiving Turkey Craft
First, print the Thanksgiving Turkey Template Printable onto white copy paper.
Provide your child with crayons. We love Crayola brand crayons the best!
You can give guidance, if you like, on what color the turkey’s body might be or what color the beak or turkey’s feathers could be. Or, you can let them use their favorite colors!
I often like to make the craft ahead of time to show my kids what it will look like. Alternately, you can show them a picture of what it will look like when it is finished.
This helps kids visualize how the craft will come together and what colors they would like to use for each piece.
Once the body and the feathers are colored, it’s time to cut.
Using blunt tip scissors, have your child cut out both the turkey’s body as well as the feathers.
For smaller children, you might like to separate the turkey body from the rectangle of turkey feathers to make it easier for them to cut.
Once the turkey and the feathers have been cut out, it’s time to glue!
Simply add a bit of glue to the end of each feather and attach it to the back of the turkey.
Continue to glue feathers on until the turkey is completed.
Super easy and so cute!
This cute turkey makes the perfect Thanksgiving craft for preschoolers and kindergarteners.
Other Options for This Turkey Craft
Here’s a few more ideas for this Easy Turkey Craft Template:
- You might like to number the feathers to have kids put them in order around the turkey.
- Older kids might enjoy shaping the feathers to make them more pointy.
- You could put letters on the turkey feathers – either ABC order or even a name!
- Laminate this turkey and make it into a centers game. You could add “recipe” cards to tell kids how many feathers to add to each turkey, etc.
