With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, we are busy making all kinds of holiday crafts and fun Thanksgiving crafts for kids!
We tend to do a lot pilgrim activities and focus on the First Thanksgiving, but of course, this is a great time to talk about turkeys!
This simple fall craft for kids is perfect for practicing cutting skills and fine motor skills. And of course, coloring is a great way to help little ones practice pencil grip and build hand strength.
This turkey craft can be done two ways. I’ve provided a printable that can be used for both versions. One is the original version where you cut out the entire turkey (for older kids) and the other is a simplified cutting version for younger kids!
I hope that this simple turkey craft comes in handy this holiday season! My kids really enjoyed these cute turkeys and of course playing with them afterwards!

Supplies for Easy Turkey Paper Craft
For this adorable paper turkey craft, you will need the following craft supplies:

- Free Turkey Template PDF printed on white paper (You can access it in the free Resource Library, available to all of my email subscribers. Not on my email list? Thereโs a form at the bottom of the post)
- Brads also called paper fasteners (You only need 1 brad for each craft.)
- Child safe Scissors – We love the Fiskars brand.
- Crayons (We love the Crayola brand!)
- Optional: Googly Eyes and glue (for added fun!)
- Optional: white cardstock paper โ You may wish to print this project on cardstock to make it more durable!
Preschool Turkey Craft Instructions
First, print out the Turkey craft template from the Resource Library (free to my email subscribers! If you havenโt joined yet my email list yet, thereโs a box to join below!)
You can print this turkey template onto regular paper or you can use card stock to make it more durable.
Alright, now it’s time to color your Thanksgiving turkey crafts! Show your child how to color the turkey feathers with vibrant colors.
Encourage them to use brown for the turkey body (if you like!)
Remind them that turkey’s usually have a red wattle (that part that hangs down from their chin) and a yellow or orange beak.
Of course, you can let your child’s creativity run wild and have a purple turkey too! This is a great opportunity to take about the turkey parts and help kids learn more about turkeys!
Next, it’s time to cut. Give your kids child-safe scissors (we love Fiskars brand!) and have them cut out both the wing and the turkey body.
Once they have cut out the wing and the body, help them attach the turkey’s wing to the appropriate place on the turkey’s body with a brad.
If you’d like a simple version for little kids, simply have them cut on the line and then cut out the wing. The project is instantly easier if they don’t have to cut out the entire turkey! You can still attach the wing with a brad.
It’s optional, but if you like, you can add a googly eye to give your turkey paper craft a little more personality.
