Supplies for Dog Valentine Box
For this easy craft you will need the following items:
– Empty cereal box – we used a large Chex box
– Scissors
– Crepe Paper – we used white crepe paper
– Construction paper – we used brown construction paper
– white card stock
– Glue stick
– Tape – we used packing tape.
How to Make a DIY Dog Valentine Box
First, I cut off the top of the box so that there was a place to insert Valentines and goodies!
Next, you need to cover your cereal box completely with white crepe paper. We taped the end of the crepe paper to our box and started to wrap it like a mummy.
We wrapped layer upon layer until you could no longer see the cereal box through the crepe paper.
Once your box is completely wrapped with crepe paper (except the top and bottom), take a piece of tape to secure the end of the crepe paper.
Now it’s time to decorate the front of the box!
Using brown construction paper, we cut out 2 large ovals for the dog’s ears.
Then we cut 2 brown eye patches and a brown nose.
I laid these on top of our box to make sure the size dimensions made sense.
Then we used a glue stick to attach the pieces to our dog.
Next we used a black Sharpie marker to add black pupils to the white of the eyes. We also added a dog mouth and a few freckles to resemble my daughter’s favorite pup!
And…it’s finished! We did add my daughter’s name to the back of the box as well.
She and I had a lot of fun putting this together and she is so excited to take it to school for her Valentine’s Day party!
