As a former preschool and elementary teacher, and a Sunday School teacher, I know that it’s important to have lots of different activities to teach kids in Bible class.

Of course, you’ll want to go ahead and read this section of Genesis to help you understand the context for this Bible story.

Alright, let’s get started!
Story of Noah’s Ark
The world was filled with sin and it was becoming more and more wicked. God was deeply troubled by the violence and sin. He was sad that he had created man. So God decided to send a flood to destroy everything.
But there was one good man on Earth. Noah was a righteous man. He loved God. He obeyed God’s Word.
So, God told Noah that He was going to flood the earth. He told Noah to build a huge boat, called an ark, so that Noah and his family would be saved.
He also asked Noah to bring two of every living creature onto the ark. Two of every kind of bird and creature would come to Noah to be kept alive.
Noah also was asked to bring every kind of food and to store it away for the animals and his family.
Noah did everything God asked him to do. When the massive ark was finished, Noah loaded it with food, and God sent the animals two by two onto the ark. There was a male and a female of every kind of creature.
Noah, his wife, his 3 sons and their wives entered the ark. When they were safely loaded onto the ark, God shut the door.
It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The floodwaters rose and the water lifted the ark high above the ground. Even the highest mountains were covered with water. Every living thing on the Earth died, both people and animals. Only Noah and those with him on the ark remained.
The water flooded the Earth for 150 days.
God remembered Noah and all of the animals on the ark and He send a wind over the earth and the waters receded. The water continued to go down and the ark stopped on the mountains of Ararat.
The water went down more and more until the tops of the mountains became visible. Noah sent out a dove to see if the water had dried up the ground but the dove came back to Noah because it couldn’t find a place to land. Noah waited 7 days and sent the dove out again. When the dove returned to him, it had a fresh olive leaf in its beak. Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. Noah sent out the dove 7 days later and it did not return to him.
God told Noah to come out of the ark with his family and the animals. Then God told them to multiply and increase in number on the Earth.
God made a covenant with Noah and his sons saying to them that He would never destroy the Earth again by a flood. The sign of this promise is the rainbow.
Whenever the rainbow appears in the sky, it is a reminder of the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on Earth.
