How to make an Owl Puppet
First print out both pages of the owl template on white paper. Have your child color the owl’s face, stomach, and wings.
We colored the owl’s face brown and beige with a yellow beak. We left the eyes plain. Then we colored the stomach portion beige and the wings brown.
When you’re finished coloring, it’s time to cut!
This is a great time for kids to practice their scissor skills, so be sure to provide your younger kids with blunt tip scissors!
Older kids shouldn’t have any trouble cutting out the owl pieces by themselves, but smaller kids may need some assistance.
How to make the Printable Owl Puppet
After you have all 6 pieces cut out, it’s time to put together the paper bag owl craft!
Place your brown paper bag on the table so that the flat bottom of the bag is on top.
Using a glue stick, have your child place the owl’s face onto the paper bag.
We prefer to use glue sticks for puppet crafts because they dry more quickly than liquid white glue.
Next, glue the owl’s eyes where they belong on the face. Add some glue to the stomach and add it to the puppet below the owl’s face. Next add a wing on each side of the stomach.
Once everything is glued down, the owl puppet is finished!
Kids can place their hand inside their paper bag owls to put on a puppet show. I love how puppets spark imaginations and plenty of play time!
