First, print out your copy of the 100th Day of School template printable. I recommend printing on cardstock to make it more sturdy, but regular paper will work as well.

Next, give your child crayons or colored pencils to color the I am 100 Days Smarter crown. You might like to encourage them to color slow within the lines.

If you want this project to fill a longer time frame….simply have the kids use colored pencils!

Now it’s time to cut! Kids will need to cut out the rectangular strips as well as the hat portion.

Most preschoolers will be able to cut this hat by themselves, but if you have younger children, they may need some assistance.

After all of the pieces of the 100 Days of School craft hat have been cut out, have an adult help kids assemble the hats.

Use a stapler to attach the strips of paper to each other like shown in the picture.

A tip for teachers:  If you want to make these hats for your 100th day of school celebration, you might like to make pre-cut strips of construction paper or copy paper to make the hat craft go a little quicker for older kids, to save paper, or to help young students create the fun hat in an easier way.

This easy activity is great for your 100th Day of kindergarten lesson plans. It is also a fun addition to your 100 days of school activities for younger elementary school students. I love that it also works great for independent work time for early finishers as well!
