Supplies to Make the Preschool Earth Day Hats
For this easy Earth Day hat craft you will need:
– A printed copy of the Earth Day Hat Headband Template (form is at the end of the article)
– Cardstock – I recommend card stock for durability, but copy paper works too.
– Scissors (we love this brand of kid safe scissors)
– A Stapler
How to Make an Earth Day Hat Headband – Preschool Earth Day hats
First, print out your copy of the Earth Day Hat template printable. I recommend printing on cardstock to make it more sturdy, but regular paper will work as well.
Next, give your child crayons or colored pencils to color the Earth Day hat. You might like to encourage them to use blue and green to color Earth.
This is also a great opportunity to show young children a picture of our planet.
Now it’s time to cut! Kids will need to cut out the rectangular strips as well as the hat portion.
Most preschoolers will be able to cut this hat by themselves, but if you have younger children, they may need some assistance.
After all of the pieces of the Earth Day craft hat have been cut out, have an adult help kids assemble the hats.
We used a stapler to attach the strips of paper to the Earth Day hat template.
Last, adjust the headband to fit each child’s head and cut off the extra paper.
Now, your Earth Day hat is ready to wear. Kids are sure to be proud of their homemade Earth Day hat!
I hope your kids enjoy this wearable Earth Day hat craft as much as mine did!
